RICE is here to find a cure for dementia and the other conditions that often affect people in older age such as Parkinson’s disease, and worsening muscle and bone health. Conditions like these greatly impact on the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of older people and their families. The need for research into dementia and these other conditions and importantly the connections between them, continues to be critical. It is particularly vital given the UK’s ageing population – by 2030 it is predicted that 1 million people will live with dementia.
Our response to this pressing need is our plan to grow and expand the breadth of our activities beyond dementia and to focus our research on thinking clearly, moving well and staying strong – dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and muscle and bone health.
“I’d gladly recommend an early visit to RICE to anyone who has memory issues, their team have tremendous expertise and are a great support to my wife, Diane and I, as we learn to live with Alzheimer’s.”
When you attend the RICE centre, we’ll let you know about current research projects and you can decide if it’s something you would like to do. The people who participate in our research often tell us that it has huge personal benefit: you’re helping to find a cure for dementia, meeting new friends in a similar situation and maintaining contact with our expert, friendly team.
“Another benefit of working with RICE has been gaining access to the EVOKE clinical trial which has added a great sense of purpose to my life, to be aiding the urgent cause of dementia research.
