At RICE we welcome NHS and private referrals to our Memory Clinic. Patients are normally referred by their GP with a suspicion of memory problems. GPs are asked to check that a raft of blood tests is normal before they refer. These include B12, folate and TSH, as low levels of these can affect cognitive function. You can also check a full blood count, renal and liver function, calcium, and glucose and cholesterol levels. GPs may also order a CT head scan.
